Fewer Things Better Full Course

Uncover your priorities in life and in teaching

Like most teachers, you want to use your life to make an impact — not only in the classroom, but in your family, community, and the world.

And yet it feels impossible to have that focus when you’re exhausted and overwhelmed.

How can you give the best of yourself when you’re bogged down with mundane tasks and unfulfilling obligations?

You really can’t do it all ... and you don't have to try.

You just need to STOP and GET CLARITY about what's most important, so you know where to focus.

I designed this course to help you figure out how to use your time in ways that make an impact.

It takes all the key principles from the Fewer Things Better book and puts them into a step-by-step system.

Use the course to help you uncover how you want to be using your time (both in and outside the classroom).

The FTB Project includes a downloadable workbook to help you get clarity on what matters most:

PART ONE: Priorities in Life

  • Determine how to build your legacy
  • Identify your seasons of life
  • Align daily routines with your priorities
  • Define balance for yourself
  • Choose self-care practices to stay in balance

PART TWO: PRIORITIES IN TEACHING
  • Let go of unnecessary work
  • Examine and challenge school norms
  • Streamline instructional routines
  • Find your teaching style and go-to strategies
  • Live out your legacy as an educator

After you complete the workbook, you'll have a clear understanding of the best and highest use of your time (inside and outside the classroom).

You'll also see a clear path to creating daily routines and habits which allow you to prioritize things that make the biggest impact for you personally and professionally.

You should participate in the Fewer Things Better Project if you want to:

  • Stop feeling like you never have time for things you care about
  • Escape the monotony of never-ending paperwork, housework, & errands
  • Plan out the habits and schedule YOU need to stay balanced
  • Finally have enough class time for the activities that benefit kids most
  • End each day knowing you did things that were meaningful and fulfilling

More resources will be added here over time, including tips, photos, and strategies from other teachers who participated in the project. You'll get to share what "fewer things better" looks like in your life, and see what others have done to simplify and streamline.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course begin?
It's completely self-paced--you decide when you start and when you finish.
How long do I have access to the course?
This course is a permanent addition to the resources in the Teacher Lifestyle Lab, so you can go through the materials anytime.
Do I need to have the "Fewer Things, Better" book?
No, the course's exercises have all the information you need. However, the book will help you develop an understanding of the underlying principles in the course, and shift your mindset so that you have a deeper understanding of how to apply the exercises.
Should I read the book first?
If you plan to read "Fewer Things, Better," I suggest doing that first and then completing the course to help you implement what you learned. It's up to you, though--you could preview the course first and start thinking through the exercises, then read the book once you have a fuller understanding of the "fewer things better" mindset. Keep in mind that the course and book are sequenced very differently, so you wouldn't be able to read a book chapter and then complete a corresponding exercise in the course.
What's the difference between this full course and the free mini-course?
The full course will help streamline your teaching practices, whereas the mini-course focuses on personal goals.
